Residencies

Zirkus ON residencies take place in the respective premises of the creation alliance’s partners. These partners are located nationally at different locations in Germany and Eastern France.

You can find all residency places here .

Accessibility at respective locations varies depending on the institution and festival.

Some residency sites may not be suitable for a creation phase in 2025 and 2026 due to limited accessibility. Residency periods and locations can be adapted to the project according to the requirements and conditions stated in the artists’ Access Riders.

Mentoring

Usually, mentoring takes place via digital meetings and on-site at Zirkus ON events. Mentors, or rather their manner of mentoring can be adapted according to requirements and conditions stated in the Access Rider of the respective project.

Presentations

The opening presentations will take place 5th June 2025 at Pfefferberg Theater in Berlin. There is a wheelchair-friendly-access.

Stage presentations will take place on 24th and 25th September 2025 at Tollhaus Karlsruhe during ATOLL Festival on the site of  "Alter Schlachthof".

As for the presentations, conditions stated in the Access Rider will be taken into account. If these cannot be met in the desired way, alternative solutions to meet respective needs will be found.

Creation budget

This budget is for artistic research and material costs. This budget is not meant to be used in order to compensate for additional costs of preparation and follow-up, travel, accommodation, care/support and accompanied participation due to lack of accessibility.

All Zirkus ON residencies and events, such as presentations, knowledge transfer and exchange with the circus scene, are designed according to the needs stated in the Access Rider.

Knowledge Transfer

Zirkus ON Knowledge Transfer is a growing toolbox open to projects, alliance partners and the circus scene.

Since 2022, it has included:  Zirkus ON #LABS - basic knowledge workshops of several days on the working foundation of basic production work at cooperation partners’ locations. Unfortunately, not all building blocks are completely accessible at the moment. If individual elements are not accessible for Zirkus ON projects of the current edition, we will do our best to find individual solutions.

Exchange formats with the circus scene

In the creation programme, exchange with the circus scene can take place through networking within the alliance or at Zirkus ON events. As reoccurring formats, Zirkus ON also invites individual, interested projects, to pitching sessions, trade fair visits/trade fair presentations (Internationale Kulturbörse Freiburg)
