Hanschitz & Beierer
still.dependent
About the show
With the Cyr Wheel, 3 performers embark on a detailed research into human-object relationships and draw a sensual utopia - beyond subject-object dichotomies, reification and anthropocentric hierarchies of meaning.
We invite you to reflect with us on the omnipresent interdependence of people and objects, and want to encourage you to empathize with us and ask questions:
How can we soberly recognize and reflect on the network-like connections in which we find ourselves in the future?
Disciplines: Cyr Wheel, contemporary dance.
About the company
Sandra Hanschitz and Joël Beierer work together on interdisciplinary dance and circus productions that are strongly characterized by their clear aesthetic language and immersive quality of experience - with the Cyr Wheel at the center of their work.
With their project "IIIII - about the art of letting go" (artistic direction: Sandra Hanschitz) they have been touring Central Europe together since 2021 and have the chance to present their work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festivalin 2024 as part of the German Showcase.
Having stumbled into the circus world as outsiders and in search of unique performance experiences, Hanschitz & Beierer create approachable and reflective works in the field of tension between calm and loss of control: The personal becomes collective, philosophy comes alive and the conceptual can be physically experienced.
They are currently working with their on a new production "still.dependent", in which they critically examine human hubris in dealing with the inanimate entities of this world.
